CUCM AXL Phone Scanner

Unfortunately Cisco Unified Communications Manager does not store serial
numbers of the phones that are registered to it. Yet in order to renew
SmartNet you must provide Cisco with these serial numbers. Luckily the
phones are capable of telling you what their serial numbers are via
their local web page.

This is where this application comes in. It connects to a Cisco Unified
Communications Manager server via AXL, downloads a list of registered
and unregistered phones and then connects to each of the phones and
extracts the serial number. Once this is completed it can export the
data in either a CSV or HTML formatted file.

REQUIREMENTS
This application was written based off the .NET 3.5 framework. As such
you will need to make sure you have it installed. This application was
tested against CUCM v6 however I believe it should work with CCM v5.

HOW IT WORKS
I tried to make this application as simple as possible. The easiest
account to use by far is the default administrator account. This
account has all of the required premissions. If you want to use a
different account you will need to setup the AXL roles.

Simply put the primary CallManager IP in the box with the administrator
username and password and click “Go”. Once it finishes scanning you
will be able to save the output.

  1. Tiago Moreira,

    Hello…

    Thanks for this wonderful application.
But I have a problem…it seems that this is written so that it reads the field “Serial Number” of the web page. But I have phones with Portuguese (PT) locale and I can’t get the serial numbers.
Is it possible for you to rewrite the application so that it can read the “Número de série” field?

    Thanks in advance.

  2. dedwards,

That is a good point. I never thought about making it international. Give me a few days and I will see what I can do. My thought process right now is to support a text file where you can put in whatever values/languages you might come across.

  3. Guillaume,

    Really nice application.

I will be great if you could write a text file where we can get values/languages we might come across.

We could get the firmware version, the IP address..

    Great job again.

  4. Shey Cavin,

Any plans to add functionality for the 7921? Thanks! Great tool!

  5. dedwards,

It’s been awhile since I looked but I think the issue with the 7921s is that their webpage doesn’t give you the serial. I might be wrong though I haven’t tried looking at a 7921 recently.
